Halt Your Fire and Your Liberties
To our friends old and new, you more than likely have heard rumors regarding the Jefferson County Plan Commission’s imprudent attempts to halt certain activities at our private range.
The county finally filed an action in Jefferson County Circuit Court on Wednesday, May 25th. The local news paper deemed this front page news in the Saturday, May 28th edition. The article was written entirely from the county’s biased perspective and noted our approximate location on Deputy Pike.
It was probably pure coincidence that our place fell victim to a drive-by shooter late that same night. Our property was damaged, but not our resolve. Thank God no one was hurt and to our knowledge, non of our good neighbors sustained damage. That is unless you consider the damage to everyone’s sense of security.
As in true county fashion, a full week after the complaint was filed, we were finally served with the summons.
While this battle plays out in the courts, our range is OPEN and will remain open to serve you!
We are thankful that we can now move forward with legally defending our rights, once and for all. We ask for your continued prayers and support of our business during this battle that could set precedence and define your rights, as well.
Beginner's Pistol Class
Our first Beginner’s Pistol Class in May was a resounding success! With small class size and individualized instruction on weapon handling abilities and confidence building, all attendee had great time improving their skills on a very chilly spring day.
Smiles grew as their groups shrunk. All were duly impressed with Matt Sipe’s attention to detail, safety and compassionate teaching methods.
In the end all were reluctant to leave, expressing a desire for the next step Intermediate Pistol Class (watch our calendar for upcoming classes).
What’s New at Deputy Big Shot
To enhance your multi-faceted enjoyment of our facility we are finalizing the layout and beginning construction of the long awaited Jungle Walk Trail. Multiple targets of differing styles, distance and shooting positions will challenge even the most experienced shooter. Most of all, it will be great fun for all. For safely reasons, the Jungle Walk will be available on during supervised events to be announced very soon!
CONCRETE SOLDIERS TO DIVIDE THE PISTOL RANGE
The other BIG change that is underway is dividing the pistol/carbine range into two separate ranges to serve our diverse clientele. The shoot house will continue as the paper target shooter’s domain, while the newly created open range to the East will be for shooting steel, VTAC board work and other uses requiring a safe open range space.
